Problem with Micro Trade Symbol Orders

Hello,

I have problems when using a micro contract as Trade Symbol while charting on the full contract.

First, there's the error message stating "Order reject ... has non-positive price" for attached orders. I did find a solution described here: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing: Using Trade Symbol
This fixed the error when placing orders, but it also leads to misaligned bars and vpocs outside of the bar? Is there a solution for this as well or is that just how it is with these settings?

Additionally, while there are instructions for QM, M6E and M6A trade symbols, I am experiencing the same issue with Micro JPY/USD (MJY) as trade symbol while charting on 6J, but there are no instructions on what settings to use for this contract.

Updating the information for the "Trade and Current Quote Symbol" should not change the bars at all. Please get us an image of what you are seeing in relation to this by following these instructions:
Support Board Posting Information: Attaching or Posting a Screenshot/Image (Optional)

If the MJY is not listed as needing special settings, then it should not need them. We will check with Engineering to ensure that this is the case and see what they know in reference to why you would have gotten that rejection.

Here is picture for the M6E as Trade Symbol on a 6E chart with the issues I mentioned.
1) Candle VPOCs are sometimes outside of the candle itself.
2) The candles and prices are somehow misaligned.

These are my settings

The values are those from the "Using Trade Symbol" help page for M6E except for the Currency Value Per Tick, which I have change to reflect the micro price.

As for trading MJY on 6J: I assume it's the same issue because the symptoms are exactly the same as I had for M6E before I changed the chart settings according to the help page:
- error message "non-positive price" for attached orders
- active position not showing up on the full contract chart despite actually being open in the trade symbol micro

Make sure this is disabled:
Chart Settings: Adjust Tool Values to Tick Size (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Drawing menu)

And make sure the Tick Size in the Chart Settings is correct.

Make sure the Scale Settings are correct:
Chart Scale and Scale Adjusting: Maintaining Same Scale for Multiple Graphs in Chart Region

As long as this is set the Yes:
Chart Settings: Use as Trade Only Symbol (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol menu)

The price bars and studies will not be affected by the Trade symbol. There simply is no possibility of this at all.

We have added the Japanese yen specifications here:

Make sure this is disabled:
Chart Settings: Adjust Tool Values to Tick Size (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Drawing menu)

This disables the snapping to prices completely with the crosshair but does not fix any of the issues.

And make sure the Tick Size in the Chart Settings is correct.

I would hope it is correct because I am using your settings as described on the help page. It is definintely the Tick Size causing this, as soon as I changed it to the Yen specifications you added, the same problems started appearing on that chart. To be clear, I only experience these issues for 6E and now 6J with their micro contracts as Trade Symbol, and when applying the settings on your help page. All other charts with unmodified settings are fine, even when they use the micro contract trade symbols.

Make sure the Scale Settings are correct:
Chart Scale and Scale Adjusting: Maintaining Same Scale for Multiple Graphs in Chart Region

It is set to automatic for the volume profile and the candle vpocs, this does not seem to be the cause.

Therefore, you just need to adjust the Tick Size in Chart Settings as you require. Make your own decisions on this.

But that then breaks the orders again?

You have instructions on what to do to make orders work here: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing: Using Trade Symbol
But YOUR OWN instructions break the chart display.

Are you saying I can only either have a properly displayed chart or working orders for these trade symbol combinations on the help page?

Therefore, what you want to do is fully impossible to accomplish. It simply is impossible. You are working with different Tick Sizes between the main symbol of the chart, and the trade symbol.

We will not be responding further here.

The instructions are there to provide the best solution we can, to what someone wants to do. It is not perfect and it is not within our control. You should realize that.
