Unable to add drawings to the weekly timeframe

I'm trying to understand why I can't add drawings to my weekly time frame. This issue doesn't occur on any of my lower time frames. For example, when I use the extending rectangle tool, on the Weekly time frame, the drawing doesn’t appear at all—there’s no indication of its placement when I try to add it to the chart. However, the drawing is listed in the Manage Drawings section, even though it's not visible on the chart itself. I’ve checked my settings, and drawing visibility is enabled, no drawings are hidden, just as it is for all my other time frames.

Check the configuration you are using for the Extending Rectangle tool and make sure the option for "Use Start Time" is set to "No". Or, make sure you are using a configuration that has that option set to "No". Let us know if this does not resolve the issue. The option "use start time" is already set to "No".

Please reproduce this and then get us an image of the "Manage Chart Drawings" window showing that rectangle. Make sure that we can see all the information for the "Anchors" that are part of that window.

I’ve attached a screenshot of my "Manage Chart Drawings" window. Only the top 4 rectangles are showing on the chart. After messing around with the tool it seems the Extending Rectangle tool is only working partially — rectangles placed after the most recent weekly candle display on the chart, but those placed before it don’t appear on the chart (though they do show in the "Manage Chart Drawings" list). Also, the tool is double-extending by default, even though “Double Extend” is set to “No.” Hope this helps. |

There is something wrong with that weekly chart. Note the dates forward from the last bar and how they are not showing properly in the image we have attached. The only thing we can recommend is to start a new chart and build it up to match what you have with the one that is not working and then delete the one that is not working properly. I deleted that chartbook and duplicated my functioning daily chart into a new chartbook. However, when I change that duplicated chart to a weekly timeframe, all of the "Numbers Bars" values display as 0. The Extending Rectangle tool works correctly, but the actual "Numbers Bars" data is missing now. This same study works fine on all my other chartbooks with lower time frames, so I'm not sure what's causing the issue in this case.

In order to use a Daily or higher timeframe with the Numbers Bars, you need to set the chart to be an "Intraday Chart Only" so that it is built from the intraday data and not the historical daily data. Refer to the following setting for this: Chart Settings: Chart Data Type (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Date Range and Limiting Method menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

The settings you mentioned are the same ones I have applied to all my other charts, including the weekly. It seems that when I apply these settings to the weekly chart, the "Number Bars" data displays correctly—but I’m still encountering the original issues: tools like the Extending Rectangle only work beyond the most recent bar, and future dates are not displaying properly. |

And this is occurring with a brand new chart? For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

This happened on a brand new chart, but fortunately, I was able to figure out the issue. All of my settings were correct—except that, for some reason, the "Load Data Limiting Method: Date Range" was automatically setting to a specific date. I didn’t think much of it, since all my other charts (even those on higher timeframes) also have a 2022 date set for that option and have never caused any problems. However, as soon as I changed that setting to blank, my WEEKLY chart was fixed. Nevertheless, I appreciate the help.

That really should not make any difference, but if it works, then that is good. Keep in mind that with that field blank, the system is going to load however much data is available for that symbol on the disk - in other words it is going to use the "Date Range in File From" as the starting point.
