Sierra Chart has been becoming slower and slower for me, delayed responses to clicks and the charts would skip/glitch and fill back the chart. I did a clean install of sierra chart, then did a full clean install of windows - but nothing is helping. What can I check next to see what is occurring? I have sent the message log for analysis. Thank you! Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-09-04 16:37:35

Refer to the following: High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thank you for the guide. After changing the "chart update interval" and "tick size" , the problem seems to get worse not better. i will send the message log again. Any thoughts? |

There is nothing in your log that shows any specific errors. There are a lot of items in the link we gave for items to check/change. In particular, given the number of charts in your chartbook from the Message Log, we recommend using a sub-instance (or two) to have multiple processors helping with charting. Refer to this section in particular on that page: High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often: 30.47 - Use Sub Instances to Distribute Processing Load But we do recommend going through all the items on that page. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

John, Thank you, will continue to follow your recommendations. Appreciate you checking the message log for any errors I might have inadvertently caused. I just found it odd that I've never had this issue before with this chartbook. Appreciate your time! |

Hi User610117, I have been using SC for years and had the same problem: "becoming slower and slower for me". I always thought the problem was due to my old computer. One day, I looked up an old chart that I had made in the year 2013 to see what Studies I was using in those days and I could not believe how responsive that old chart was! I found what the problem was (in my case). I had been using the "Chart --> Duplicate Chart" function over and over on the same symbol. This is no good. I duplicated the 2013 chart to make a current 2025 chart and it was just as responsive as the original 2013 chart. So it seems that Duplicating a chart over many many years will degrade its performance. |

No this is not true. Repeatedly duplicating a chart does not affect performance. There is some other explanation in your case. Once again refer to: High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often Maybe there are too many Chart Drawings on the chart. Whatever the issue is, you can definitely resolve it. You do not need our help and we cannot help with it anyway. Other than linking to the relevant list of possible issues.
