I had a difficult time with SC today. Data kept freezing, lagging, orders were getting stuck

I always run two installations of SC

1. SC v2657 connected to teton - dorman : where i had all the above problems. No amount of reconnecting, reopening, switching internet helped.

2. SC v2758 connected to SC all services : this was running properly.

Idk why, internet was fine too.

Are these installations on two different computers?

Also, although it should not cause what you are stating, you are running an older version in your "Teton - Dorman" installation. You should update this to the current release (v 2789). And we really can not troubleshoot problems with that old of a release, as there are just too many changes. Follow these instructions to update:

Same computer. The DF on title bar was also inconsistent on v2657

I am running 2657 for teton because this is the version that runs smoothest for me.

And now it seems to be working fine. How could it be?

Also, are there any options to change the server that my SC - teton connects to?

And, are there any differences in connection to the server between SC - all services and teton - clearing firm

We do recommend updating to the latest release.

We do not know what was occurring, so we can not say why things are working fine now.

There is just one option, which is on the "Data/Trade Service Settings >> Main Settings" for "Use Backup Connectivity as Primary". But we do not recommend doing this, as there is no need to use the backup server.

In terms of trading - yes. "SC Data" (or "SC Data - All Services") means you are not connected to a trading service, so you are only able to trade using the built-in Simulation Mode. Whereas when you connect to Teton, you are sending trading orders to our server that is colocated with the CME Group computers.

Keep in mind, data is slightly different. When you get your data from our Denali Exchange Data Feed, then that is also coming out of the same data center as the CME Group, but there are a few optional servers available for this. Refer to the following:
Sierra Chart Server Settings: CME Exchange Data Feed Server Address and Port Override (Global Settings >> Sierra Chart Server Settings >> General >> Special)
